Why focus on Bio sciences based industry?
The biotechnology business in India has the potential to generate annual revenues of US$ 5 billion and a million skilled jobs by 2010. The sector is rapidly attaining critical mass in terms of skills and capabilities to become a truly global player . India is becoming one of the most favoured destinations for collaborative R&D, bioinformatics, contract research and manufacturing and clinical research as a result of growing compliance with internationally harmonised standards such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
A well defined
regulatory framework, along with an emerging stringent IPR regime is also contributing to this trend. Looking at the opportunity in the biofuels sector, the Central Government has taken the initiative to promote this sector in a big way. The total consumption of ethanol-blended petrol is expected to be 4.6 million tonnes per year

Business Environment (city infrastructure, quality of life, and Government support).
Strategy:
To utilizing core competencies already available here due to organizational set up of CSIR , ICAR , IIML , Biotech Park, SGPGIMS and KGMU, LU, UPTU, Amity and Integral Universities , Reliance Retail Ltd etc. To create a common platform for Entrepreneurs , Experts, Bankers (SIDBI, NABARD, SBI etc), IT professionals for Bio informatics development
To create database of serving professionals in research organizations and retired scientist/ faculty related to above theme.
To use Bio Informatics centre of Biotech park for knowledge dissemination and associate IT professionals in the association for undertaking activities.
To explore possibility of associating IIM and other institutes in assessment /potential survey of Biotech products of Biotech Park in UP.
To assist Biotech Park in awareness program of opportunities in Biotech industry
To collaborate with CSIR organizations at Lucknow , UPCST and other organizations in assessment of their training needs for their business growth as R&D industry. To provide desired training with support of resource persons available locally and nationally.
To provide on AKWL web site database of “ services provider individuals and organizations available” and “service providers required”
AKWL to organize monthly meeting of invitees of the working group , to review progress and plan future activities.
