Answer 10 Definition: Business Process Outsourcing can be defined as the transfer of an organization's entire non-core but critical business process/function to an external vendor who uses an IT-based service delivery. By doing so, Business Process Outsourcing helps an organization concentrate on its core competencies, improve efficiency, reduce cost and improve shareholders' value
According to Gartner definition, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the delegation of one or more IT-intensive business processes to an external provider that in turn owns administers and manages the selected process based on defined and measurable performance criteria.
Now, BPO's are moving from voice-based channels to e-channels such as e-mail and web chat. With complete process and procedure outsourcing, BPO's require a knowledge database and uniformity of information across all centers.

Answer 11 Robust communication infrastructure, a large English-speaking workforce, low labor costs, appropriate time-zone difference with the West and the brand equity built by the software services sector are compelling reasons for choosing BPO India as the major BPO destination.
Availability of highly qualified skill pool and faster adoption of well-defined business processes leads to higher productivity gains without compromising on quality. Customers across verticals like Insurance, Banking, Pharmaceuticals, Telecom, Automotive and Airlines seem to be the early adopters of BPO India.

Answer 12. KPO delivers high value to organizations by providing domain-based processes and business expertise rather than just process expertise. These processes demand advanced analytical and specialized skill of knowledge workers that have domain experience to their credit. Therefore outsourcing of knowledge processes face more challenges than BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). Some of the challenges involved in KPO will be maintaining higher quality standards, investment in KPO infrastructure, the lack of talent pool, requirement of higher level of control, confidentiality and enhanced risk management. Comparing these challenges with the Indian IT and ITES service providers, it is not surprising that India has been ranked the most preferred KPO destination owing to the country's large talent pool, quality IT training, friendly government policies and low labor costs. Some KPO services that can be outsourced to India :

Research& Development   Medical Services
Business and Technical Analysis Writing & Content Development
Learning Solutions Legal Services
Animation & Design Intellectual Property (IP) Research
Business & Market Research Data Analytics
Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology Medical Services Network Management
